Preparing to go failsafe

Once again, we're preparing to have a go at an elimination diet. Last time we did it was years ago when Oneson was first diagnosed. We did zero additives and gluten and diary free. Didn't help much.

Now under doctor's orders, we'll be doing (in a nutshell) zero additives, low/zero salicylates and low/zero amines, as per Sue Dengate's FAILSAFE elimination diet. This is the diet I've found to be most commonly used among those trying to find out if diet contributes to their childs' behavioural issues.

All the info you need and loads of support can be found on the Food Intolerance Network website. This site is owned by Sue Dengate and she publishes heaps of info on food and problems associated with various additives and diets.

Helping Children With Autism package

I've managed to just scrape Twoson through in time to qualify for the government's Helping Children With Autism package - $6000/year to spend on approved therapies delivered by a pannel of registered providers until the child's 6th birthday.

I'm not entirely sure how helpful it will be. We don't need Speech or OT. I'm thinking some of the ABA stuff delivered by FABIC might be worthwhile and parent education courses run by Autism Queensland.

Anyway, details of the program can be found on the government's HCWA website.
